An original production cel and preliminary background from the Disney Studios animated film "The Fox and the Hound" (1981). Featuring Tod and Copper playing as young best friends, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The cel is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. Measuring 12.5"x16" overall, with the character image measuring 5.5"x10.25" the piece is in very good condition with minor line fade, light surface scratches and wear, staple holes in all four corners, and a creased lower left corner on the cel. The background shows minor discoloration and light stains consistent with production use and age, staple holes in all four corners, and tape strips and surface tears on the reverse.
