A rare scene cel inspired by the Jay Ward Studios cartoon "Dudley Do-Right" (1961-1970). Featuring Dudley Do-Right pointing a gun at Snidely Whiplash, the hand-painted cel was not used during production, but was made to order at Jay Ward's Sunset Blvd Studio. The scene cels were created by Ward or his wife, with this one likely in the 1970s based on the original mat, and more modern cels being dated. Jay Ward signed the cel in black ink to the bottom right corner. Measuring 10"x13" overall, with the character image measuring 5.5"x7.25" in a 7"x9" mat opening, the piece is in good condition with age-related warping, slight surface wear, and a large crack along the upper edge of the completely restored cel. The studio mat exhibits significant age-related discoloration, water marks, and staining.
